About Polícia Federal – RJ

Polícia Federal is a Brazilian law enforcement institution linked to the Ministry of Justice and Public Security, responsible for essential public security functions and for preserving public order, safeguarding the assets and interests of the Federal Government. Its responsibilities include maritime, airport, and border policing; enforcement against crimes such as drug trafficking, smuggling, and customs evasion; and, exclusively, serving as the Federal Government’s judicial police, as established by Brazil’s 1988 Federal Constitution.

The challenge

With the Rio 2016 Olympic Games—an event of high complexity and operational demand—Polícia Federal in the State of Rio de Janeiro needed to strengthen its capabilities for visualization, control, and information management to support police operations across key events and incidents related to the mission. It was necessary to centralize multiple sources of images and data, with agility to switch content, coordinate teams, and monitor situations in real time within a dedicated Situation Room environment.

Overcoming the challenge

Solution applied:

To meet this need, Visual deployed its Situation Room solution, integrating infrastructure, software, and display resources for real-time operations. As part of the solution, Video Walls were implemented to expand information visibility and enable the simultaneous monitoring of different sources.

Through a public procurement process, in 2016 two Video Wall structures were installed at the Interpol – RJ headquarters, composed of a set of screens dedicated to monitoring: one structure with 10 55” displays and another with 3 55” displays.

The solution enabled centralized management and integrated operation of the screens in a single environment, with flexibility to publish and switch content in real time or on a scheduled basis—supporting both the Olympic project’s demands and other special operations carried out by Polícia Federal in Rio de Janeiro.
